At Kids Tooth Team, we’ve created an environment where children love to visit, our doctor loves to practice, and our team members love to work. “Team” is in our name for a reason - we all work together to create an exceptional, kid-friendly dental experience. We are dedicated to providing individualized, expert care and are committed to going above and beyond to accommodate your needs. It is our goal to ensure you and your little one feel confident and informed every step of the way. We are here for you, so if you ever have any questions or if there is anything we can do to make your experience more enjoyable, don’t hesitate to let us know.
We are so excited to share that Dr. Francisco Rodriguez, DDS, MS will be with us at Kids Tooth Team for the next few months to help cover Dr. Alex's maternity leave!
As the Founder of Kids Tooth Team, Dr. Alex’s goal was to create a pediatric dental office unlike any other. After nearly a decade of being in the profession, it became clear to her that dental offices were becoming more and more about the doctor and insurance companies and less about the patients and the families they serve.
Dr. Alex hated seeing families waiting forever to see the doctor, only to be told that there was only one way to do things (the doctor’s way of course!). It drove her crazy to hear sales pitches or anyone recommending unnecessary treatment, especially to a child. And not to mention the lost look on a parent’s face as some random person in the office confusingly tried to explain an insurance plan or how much you may owe - they may as well have been speaking a different language. She knew that Kids Tooth Team had to do things differently.
Dr. Alex is here to serve you and your child - bottom line! As a pediatric specialist with years of residency training and private practice experience, she offers a wide variety of minimally-invasive and surgically complex services. You can rest assured that Dr. Alex has extensive experience providing compassionate care, no matter your child’s needs.
Dr. Alex takes your time very seriously and has many protocols in place at the office to ensure you aren’t waiting to see her, have a say in every step of the process, and stay informed about your insurance and coverage. She cares deeply about you and your family - something that you will sense the second you walk into our doors. There will never be a sales pitch and you will never hear the words: “This is the only way to do it.” We are here to offer you options that fit your child and their needs as well as your parenting philosophy, lifestyle, and budget.
Dr. Rodríguez grew up in Costa Rica and is a board certified Pediatric Dentist with 18 years of experience in private practice. He is a proud graduate of the University of Alabama pediatric dental residency program, where he received his Pediatric Certificate and a Master’s Degree.
Dr. Francisco feels that a positive and compassionate approach to children and their parents will allow them to feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable during the dental visit. He strongly believes in prevention through proper oral and overall health habits are the foundation for a child's healthy smile.
He and his wife Eugenia have three children. They enjoy spending family time together while cooking, traveling, taking their dog Enzo for walks or just playing at the park. He loves sports, especially soccer, tennis, and cycling. Dr. Rodriguez feels very fortunate and excited to bring his compassionate care, knowledge, and experience to the Kids Tooth Team patients!
Dr. Alex grew up in Naples, Florida and is a proud graduate of the University of Florida where she received a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and minored in leadership.
Dr. Alex attended Dental School at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. During her time at VCU Dr. Alex was elected as the vice president of her dental school. She was also the only senior dental student to be awarded the International College of Dentists leadership award and sit as a board member on the Virginia Dental Association's Board of Directors.
After 4 years of dental school, Dr. Alex went on to complete a General Practice Residency program at Denver Health Medical Center, a level-one trauma center in Denver, CO. She gained extensive experience in oral surgery, trauma dentistry, special healthcare needs, pediatric dentistry and all aspects of general and hospital dentistry.
Dr. Alex is proud to have been selected to attend the New York University Langone Health Pediatric Residency program in Anchorage, Alaska. This nationally-recognized program is honored to serve Alaska native children who have the highest rate of cavities and dental disease in the country. Attending this rigorous program trained Dr. Alex to have a minimally-invasive mindset, while also gaining experience in cosmetic and advanced surgical procedures.
Dr. Alex is one of 25 dentists in the country to be appointed as a member of the American Dental Association's Institute for Diversity in Leadership 2020 training class.
During dental school, Dr. Alex was very involved with leadership and was elected as the National Vice President of the American Student Dental Association, the largest dental student organization in the country. She represented 19k of her peers to the American Dental Association and to legislators and policy makers across the country.
In addition to caring for your child as the doctor at Kids Tooth Team, Dr. Alex volunteers her time as a national speaker for the American Dental Association (ADA). She travels to dental schools and conferences nationwide to speak to dental students and new dentists on behalf of the ADA on topics such as Ethics and Leadership in Dentistry, Practice Management, and The State of the Dental Profession.
Dr. Alex is proud to be a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. This is an award that only 6% of general dentists (and much fewer pediatric dentists!) earn. This award means that Dr. Alex has completed over 500 hours of continuing education credits and has passed a rigorous fellowship exam that covers all aspects of dentistry.
Dr. Alex is a Sprig Certified Provider and is one of the only dentists in the nation that has been selected to be a clinical faculty member and instructor for Sprig zirconia crowns. As an instructor she is an international speaker on behalf of the brand and teaches other doctors across the world how to use and place white crowns for kids. We pride ourselves on having an expert on zirconia crowns right here at Kids Tooth Team!
Dr. Alex is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists. The ACD is the oldest major honorary society for dentists, and members are inducted based on exemplified excellence through outstanding leadership and contributions to dentistry and society. Less than 3.5% of dentists are honored with the invitation to be a Fellow in the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Alex is also a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy. This is one of the most prestigious international honor dental societies. Professional leaders select fellows based on contributions to dental literature, service to the profession of dentistry and service to the general community.
Dr. Alex is one of very few pediatric dentists in Austin that has privileges and blocked operating room time at Dell Children's.
Dr. Roberto grew up in North East Texas and attended college at the University of Arkansas. He decided he wanted to be a dentist at a young age and accomplished that goal by graduating from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSCSA). After working 5 years as a general dentist he knew he wanted to pursue his passion of working with children and further his education by attending pediatric dental residency through a branch of UTHSCSA on the border in Laredo.
Dr. Roberto has a heart for service and has done volunteer dentistry in 14 different countries. His goal is to help educate kids about the importance of oral health, and he even published a children's book titled Sugar Bugs on that topic. Dr. Roberto is also passionate about involvement in the profession and is the incoming president of the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Outside of the office Dr. Roberto loves hiking, getting into nature, and taking photographs.
Howdy, my name is Christopher and my wife and two dogs are excited to be back home in Austin. Born and raised near Lake Travis I love hiking, space facts, 3D printing and pie. I graduated with honors from both Southwestern University (undergraduate) and UT Health- San Antonio (doctor of dental surgery) before joining UNC-Chapel Hill for my 3 year pediatric dentistry specialty training. Oral health is an essential part of whole body health and the unique opportunity pediatrics provides is the chance to improve the trajectory of a person’s oral health early in life. I look forward to bringing cutting edge, compassionate care to my hometown community at Kids Tooth Team!
Hey y'all! My name is Dr. Tanvi (thun-V) and I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I completed my undergraduate studies right here in Austin, which is when I fell in love with this vibrant city! I always knew I loved science and art, which is what led me to pursue dentistry at UTHSCSA. After working for a few years at a family practice, I realized how much I enjoyed working kids which is what brought me back to UTHSCSA to complete my post graduate pediatric dental residency. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time and going on adventures with my husband Roshan. We love hiking, traveling, trying to new foods and are obsessed with all things related to Harry Potter. I look forward to making it a fun and comfortable visit at Kids Tooth Team!

While these two floofs may be a little too borky to be found in the office at Kids Tooth Team, you will be sure to see photos of them all over the place and out and about around town, so we thought they deserved their own personal introduction here as well!

Hi, my name is Mallorie. I was born and raised in San Marcos, TX. I have a 3 year old and a 6 your old rottie! I love to draw and paint in my free time. I enjoy working in pediatric dentistry because I believe the relationship we create with our patients at a young age can influence their perception of dentistry in adulthood.
Pediatric dentists are experts in delivering kid-friendly care! The dental needs of children are different from the needs of adults. A pediatric dentist must complete an additional two years of pediatric-focused training compared to a general dentist - that’s a total of 6 years of education after college. While general dentists can care for a wide age range of patients, pediatric dentists, like Dr. Alex, focus exclusively on children's dental issues. They undergo extensive training and education to be able to care for little smiles, specifically. A large part of this advanced training is focused on pediatric behavior management techniques that facilitate a comfortable and safe environment for children. This means they can provide more individualized, compassionate, and gentle care for little smiles.
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, it is recommended that you schedule your child’s first dental visit once they turn one year old, or whenever their first tooth emerges (whichever comes first). We will be able to check to make sure their oral health is developing properly and answer any questions you may have about how to care for their teeth. But don’t worry, if your child is a bit older and they haven’t visited the dentist yet, the best time to start is now! The earlier they start seeing the dentist, the more familiarized with the process they will become.
Sedation can be a good option for children who:
Dr. Alex is skilled and experienced in administering sedation for children. They will be completely safe and in expert hands. With a wide variety of sedation options, we’ll be able to meet your child’s needs and keep them comfortable throughout their visit. Sedation is rarely the only option for a child’s treatment, so be assured that Dr. Alex and the team will go through each and every safe and reasonable treatment option with you before we decide on what is the right choice for your child. We offer sedation at all of our locations, and we offer dental sedation to the Buda area.
